Untrustworthy Name: Backpage
The untrustworthy name in question is an advertisement I saw on a webcomic I frequent.
I can assume that this is the title name: BACKPAGE (THE MOVIE). Now, it’s not the name itself that bothers me, but the name it makes for itself. First of all, it’s trying to sell itself with a little bit of sex appeal. Sure, that’s fine and dandy and all, but it doesn’t really give us much context for what to expect. Secondly, it says “Watch for free on Youtube!” If that’s the case, then why do you have a (presumably costly) advertisement for it? Unless you’re paying for an ad to obtain ad revenue, I don’t think you’ve thought your business plan out all the way.
Lastly–and this is a big one–I don’t think their fake review in quotations really fits the target audience, or any audience at all. Let’s break it down:
Funnier than AVATAR
Was Avatar a comedy? Sure, there were some moments that would make you chuckle, and the name Unobtainium as an element is kinda goofy… but I wouldn’t really compare it to a fully-fledged comedy. But Avatar was mainly an action movie with a dramatic plot, not some uppity comedy movie like Idiocracy or Role Models. Granted, Role Models is a hilarious movie, and if it were compared to something like that, then maybe I’d be enticed to watch it. But instead there’s the journey of a paraplegic man to find himself, and the slaughter of this planet’s natives for their precious elements until a paramount battle banishes them from the planet. Avatar is not a comedy, your argument is invalid.
Sexier than INCEPTION
Ok, Inception is an action thriller. It does have sequences where Leonardo DeCaprio is courting his wife as they grow old together, but his wife’s character was introduced as a psychopathic killer. Most of the interactions with her in the movie aren’t what I would call “sexy.” Touching, maybe, but not sexy. Instead there’s a lot of action, running around, explosions, mind-warping scenarios, drama, thrilling sequences, intrigue… but the movie goes at such a fast pace that it doesn’t give itself any room for any real romance. Inception is not a romance, or a romantic comedy, your argument is doubly invalid.
Just to be thorough I checked their link. This is what the webpage looks like:
As it turns out, THIS IS A DOCUMENTARY. ABOUT CALLING UP ESCORT SERVICES OR SOMETHING. WHY IS IT BEING COMPARED TO HOLLYWOOD BLOCKBUSTERS? I’m not sure if it’s even a real documentary, I didn’t really feel like watching it. Redirecting my attention to youtube, I also see that it had 23 views and 1 dislike. In the Youtube description it also compares itself to The Blair Witch Project. Maybe my memory is rusty, but I don’t remember Blair Witch having anything to do with call girls. Maybe shitty camera work, yes… but I’m sure even that was better than this.

Wow. You just dont get it. Satire. Irony. Look these words up, and apply them to your critique. And learn how to use a semicolon; you look like a douche when you misuse commas.
Amazing! I got hate mail! You will be pleased to find that you now have a WHOLE NEW article just about you!
