It looks like somebody got upset. As such, I decided to leave a comment, which may or may not go through due to WordPress’s nature of waiting for moderation before posting comments. Below is my response:

This seems to have been blown out of proportion rather quickly, hasn’t it?

I’m Matt, the writer of both of the articles in the links above. The original intent was to poke fun at an advertisement that popped up from ProjectWonderful. The intent of the original article was not to be harmful, just silly. Then someone from this side of the internet decided they wanted to start something with some inflammatory comments, so I obliged and fed the trolls. And I attempted to do it tastefully. All I can say now is that you guys seem upset.

Now that you’ve posted your take on this, it’s time for me to walk over to your turf and try to be mature about it, instead of berating you guys. I would not like to be in an all out flame war–as silly as it is–and so I am reaching out with the figurative olive branch and offer a truce; We’ll even watch your film and give it a fair review! I would just prefer that this situation not get out of hand.

Also, you are correct about it being a slow day at work; My bear overlords have temporarily run out of menial labor for me to perform, so I take my precious free time to write unnecessarily long blog posts.”

What will happen next? Stay tuned on this week’s most exciting internet soap opera: Hungry for Personals.

As a side note, I’m now a fan of the name “Hungry Matt.” Perhaps if anything is to be taken away from this, it’s a new nickname.

Matt, kudos to you for being so polite and gracious. I don’t know that I’d bother trying to placate an insecure, homophobic douchebag after reading a bitter little screed like that — especially not one who criticizes you for “not getting the joke,” but can’t respond in good humor.

It looks like they replied. However it looks like their comments aren’t working at the moment, and unfortunately I cannot see what they had to say about it.

@Rose and Matt. Tone is apparently difficult to convey with the written word– especially if you limit yourself to a paragraph or so, as I did. I certainly am not upset; any attention our little project gets is something I’m greatful for. And please dont tell my cellmate I’m homophobic (he just feeds on that). I thought I had understood the spirit with which you conducted your article and tried to respond in kind. Language (even grammar!) can be fun and stimulating. I only posted as late as I did because that was the first I had seen your column. That being said, I’d love it if you watched the movie and reviewed it. Feel free to use your most colorful language, too! I think you’ll agree that it is, in fact, funnier than Schindler’s List and sexier than Roger and Me.
