Humble Indie Bundle V is amazing
You may or may not be aware of the “Humble Bundle“. Every so often they put together a group of Indie games and sell them as a bundle in a “pay what you want” dealio. Profits are spit between the developers and a couple charities, including Child’s Play, a personal favorite charity of mine.
Now normally, the selection of games is pretty scattered. They’ll get one or two big (you know, big for indie) titles, and a bunch of games you haven’t heard of. But this time the selection is TOTALLY AMAZEBALLS.
I’ve been meaning to play Psychonauts forever, so that alone would make this is a great deal for me, but every other title in the bundle is also a well known game that was critically acclaimed. Bastion, LIMBO, Sword and Sworcery, and Amnesia are all games that I have heard great things about, but Bastion’s the only one I’ve played (and on the 360).
Here’s how it works: Pay at least 1 cent and you get Psychonauts, LIMBO, Sword and Sworcery, and Amnesia; all in DRM Free download for PC, Mac, or Linux. You also get the soundtrack for each game (and they all have pretty good soundtracks from what I’ve heard so far).
Pay at least 1 dollar and you also get Steam vouchers for all four games to download them via Steam in addition to the DRM-Free downloads
Pay more than the average amount (currently at $7.37), and you get Bastion, both DRM-Free and Steam versions, and its soundtrack.
You can also pay “what you feel the games are worth”, and with any bid you can adjust the amounts going to the developers and to each individual charity to whatever proportion you wish.
Two reasons I’m bringing this up.
1) Its an amazeballs deal, and you have two weeks to take advantage of it, should you desire.
2) I will be making videos of me playing each of these games in the coming weeks. (Or perhaps, as this blog has been known to do, I will claim to do something and then as time passes, move on to something else and never do it. But right now I intend to!) So look forward to that.
I would be VERY surprised if Matt didn’t own every one of these games already, so you may hear from him as well.
